Day 30a: Onward through the Ouch … (05/14/2019)

I wake up at 7am after a nice night’s sleep and slam a hasty breakfast and offer a cursory goodbye to Clara as she is late for work. David then accompanies me on the first few hundred yards of the day’s walk (to spend a bit more time together, and make sure that I set forth upon the right Way out of town), and share a heartfelt and quite moving farewell after arriving at his bus stop. I wave until his bus recedes over the horizon, so grateful to have met yet another person who seems to “get it” and who obviously truly Cares, and then slowly proceed downhill — back towards Lake Geneva and the Camino path that reportedly flows alongside it … I don’t hobble too far, and am wondering more than a bit about the intense pain I am already experiencing this morning with every single step, when I come across a sign noting that I am currently walking through — quite ironically — the Swiss region of Ouchy … 😀 😀 😀

“There are no victims in this life. No one has the right to point fingers at his or her past and blame it for what he or she has chosen to become today. Indeed, no one has the right to point a finger at someone else and blame them for how we choose to treat others. Those decisions are ours and ours alone. So stop hiding in the corner, pointing fingers at your past. And stop sitting under the table, talking about someone who has hurt you. Instead, stand up and face your past – stand up and choose to make the most of today; the only day you have been truly given! Face your fears and face your pain. Stomach them all and make your life be bigger. You may have to do so kicking and screaming and throwing fits – but by all means, DO SO! Life ultimately makes no room for selfish cowards, my Friends. So choose to set aside all your petty concerns and be bravely Kind instead.” ~ inspired by C. JoyBell C.
