Day 25c: The Wind in The Way … (05/09/2019)
It was quite the blustery day today as I ambled along the Camino — with the breezy gusts always seeming to blow firmly against my desired direction of flow — and I thankfully arrived soon enough at the very tiny yet extremely warm chapel in the village of Myriez. I stumble while walking up its outside staircase and reinjure my almost-healed shin splint, a setback that causes me to spontaneously laugh out loud. After all, in line with one of the primary purposes of this entire Walk, it is our seemingly random moments of pain & discomfort (more importantly, the conscious transcendence thereof via acts of kindness given therein) that provide an essential plank of potency to any pilgrimage, if not to Life itself … 😉
So I smiled as I limped into the snuggly sanctuary and was greeted with my own private salutation — via the local organist (yes, there was actually a tiny organ in the chapel’s tiny balcony) using that morning to practice his craft. So I sat in utter reverie while he played — oh so thankful that I was alive and walking while living … 🙂
“An open willingness to wrestle with your demons will allow all angels nearby to sing. Use all times of pain & frustration as fuel, my Friends; not only as reminders of your innate strength, but also as opportunities to evidence the same.” ~ inspired by August Wilson
P.S. As a thankful tribute to my Journey — and as evidence of the renewal of my humble Faith in that most wondrous Way of Ways — I chose to leave the winter jacket that I had recently received in Moutier behind as I departed, and this even though the weather promised to remain crisp & brisk for many days to come … 😉
