Day 25b: Unsheltered from The Storm … (05/09/2019)

It is still raining lightly as I headed out this morning, and rain was called for off & on for the rest of the day. So Elisabeth gave me one of her own umbrellas to shelter me from the storm. And I accepted the same thankfully — not because I needed it or even wanted it, but simply to honor the gift and its giving; remembering that while it is indeed the receiver who receives that which is given, it is the giver thereof who receives the far greater Joy and the far more deep-seated sense of Peace.

And so it was that I left Elisabeth’s house with my newfound shield in tow, turned the corner into one of Murten’s many parkside-courtyards, and respectfully left this latest offering to be found and used by another.

On a personal level I did so to honor the Truth that we cannot be cleansed unless we allow the rain to reach our skin; just as we cannot be reborn unless we allow Love to reach our Souls. And yet far more importantly — on a level far more communal — I did so to allow the next Kind Soul I met to see me walking without cover through the rain, and maybe choose to offer me yet another umbrella — and thereby remember anew that we are ONE as well … 😉
