Day 23d: Recalling a deeper Compassion … (05/07/2019)

Onward through the lovely village of Bargen (where yet another roadside chapel had been graced with a beautiful stained-glass tribute to Jesus gently holding a lamb) and then pause for while on a path-side bench fittingly located between a cemetery on one side and a small herd of soon-to-be-violently-slaughtered dairy cows on the other … 🙁

My appropriate sadness is soon assuaged, however, by a passing schoolboy who pauses to extend some gentle kindness to one of the farmer’s imminent victims — lovingly remembering two very simple Truths: 01) that no sentient being deserves to in any way be confined or abused or killed for our mere personal pleasure or convenience, and 02) that ALL our sentient brothers & sisters deserve quite the opposite — namely, to be openly and indeed frequently treated with respect and decency and LOVE … 🙂

Amen — Please let it soon be so!

“A true & sincere Reverence for Life is what affords me my most fundamental principle of morality: namely, that Good is made manifest while maintaining, assisting, &/or enhancing the lives of others, and that its opposite — Evil — can only thrive while seeking to destroy, harm, &/or hinder the same. In truth, a heartfelt affirmation of the world and my presence in it is only possible while I give myself fully for the others around me, and this while staunchly refusing to in any way neglect or imprison or diminish the same.” ~ via Albert Schweitzer
