Day 20b: But where is The Way? … (05/04/2019)

I flow pretty smoothly this morning into and through the town of Rebevelier, and then things start to get a bit interesting — the kind of interesting that would cling to my days for the rest of my Walk through the Switzerland; the kind of interesting that comes into being when the governmental body of the country you are traversing has decided A) to align your pilgrimage path with a route that is neither traditional nor even logical, but rather with pre-established hiking trails the sole purpose of which remains providing Swiss day-walkers with adventurous jaunts to stunning vistas, and B) to then go a step much further by forgetting to (or simply refusing to) properly mark those same quite arduous circuits … :O

As such, it can come as little surprise to you, my dear readers, that I ended up walking for quite a ways in a most incorrect direction, and was only saved from losing an entire leg of my Walk by the grace of a handful of kind locals who gave me a cup of piping herbal tea and let me rest with them a bit before heading — through gathering snow-flurries, no less — back the way I had come … 🙂

“I see that you seek a great fortune, and indeed you will find a great fortune – though it will not be the fortune for which you originally yearn. And in truth before this fortune can be won you must travel a long and difficult road; a road fraught with danger & peril … I cannot tell you how long this road shall lead, and yet fear not the obstacles you encounter along its way. For your courage and your persistence will vouchsafe your reward … Yea, though that road will wind & turn, and though your heart will certainly grow weary, still shall ye follow it, ultimately unto your Salvation.” ~ via Joel Cohen (O Brother Where Art Thou)
