Day 16e: A sideshow of Slavery … (04/30/2019)
As uplifted as I was over the ease at which I had crossed into Switzerland, I couldn’t help but feel an immense wave of disappointment wash over me when the first Swiss “business” I encountered proved to be a zoo — a zoo, in the most cruel twist of ironies, that charged no entry fee whatsoever; letting humans in for free to calmly gaze & gawk at animals whose freedom had been forcefully taken & trashed … 🙁
P.S. There are those who claim that zoos are an excellent way to educate our children about animals. Of course, what these people fail to realize is the actual lesson being taught by the same — namely, that it is somehow morally acceptable and even appropriate to imprison innocent beings for our own knowledge &/or entertainment; that it is somehow OK &/or preferred to enslave those who are weaker than us for our own advantage or amusement.
P.P.S. There is nothing at all “natural” to be learned from the behaviors of animals who have been taken by force from their friends & families and fully removed from their natural homes.
