Day 15d: When in doubt, don’t! … (04/29/2019)
Over the course of my 5+ month, 4000+ km walk, I will readily admit that there were many times (like in the first picture below) when I had no idea where my correct path lay or in which specific direction I should have been heading. And in every single one of those moments, I simply chose to heed the call of a singular simple adage: If no clear sign calls for you veer left or right, proceed smoothly yet stolidly straight ahead.
After all, as it is in life — and indeed as it is in Love, “getting there” is not the objective truly worth attaining. Rather, just as it is in living — and indeed just as it is in Loving, it is the moment-to-moment boldness with which one walks that is the only thing that matters.
“Whatever you do, courage is ever necessary. For whatever course you ultimately decide upon, there is always someone who will tell you that you are wrong and there are always difficulties arising thereafter that will tempt you to believe that your critics might be right. As such, to map out any true course of action and follow it to any meaningful end requires essentially the same bravery that is ever exuded by toddlers: the humility required to Love without condition or merit, and the persistence to Love that way again & again & again — and this, no matter the amount of rejection or ridicule.” ~ inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson
