Day 12a: Taking the weather with me … (04/26/2019)

The morning of Day 12 dawned with the rains still pouring down on Denzlingen, and I at first wondered how I could proceed — having intentionally brought neither a raincoat nor an umbrella along for the Journey.* A solution readily presented itself, however, in the form of the bakery seen across the street — a bakery that indeed had quite a few large trash bags on hand, a bakery that fluidly offered me one of the same without pause after I humbly asked for it, a bakery that then also loaned me a pair of scissors and allowed me to use one of their tables to quickly turn that trash bag into an impromptu rain parka (much to the shocked bewilderment of the dozen or so customers waiting therein for their daily bread), and a bakery that to this day wonders who the odd stranger was they helped in that most odd of ways — who the odd stranger was who walked willingly out into that cold & stormy morning; who the odd stranger was who walked out into the rain; who the odd stranger was walking “for peace and freedom”, shielded from that morning’s storm by only the thinnest veneer of blue plastic as he did so … 🙂

“A truly adventurous life does not necessarily require climbing mountains, swimming with sharks, or jumping off cliffs. What it does demand is willingly risking yourself in each encounter, by courageously leaving a significant piece of you behind in all those met along the way.” ~ via Shawna Grapentin

*I did so A) to make sure others knew that I had no shelter of my own — that I was dependent upon the goodwill of strangers when faced with inclement weather of any kind, and B) to allow others to more readily be able to reach out and Care for me in times such as these … 😉
