Day 09c: Onward despite Everything … (04/23/2019)

While the particular obstacle seen below might not look like much to you from where you currently sit, rest assured that it was in truth a significant one for me; a pilgrim in much pain on this particular day* … Nevertheless, I had constructed this pilgrimage to be a wholly one-way affair, so onward was the only direction available — and onward I did indeed go … 🙂

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is one man with a gun in his hand or another who as it all already figured out. Because real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see the thing through no matter what.” ~ via Atticus Finch in Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird”

*(Not only were my feet still heavily blistered at this point in The Walk, but a shooting shin splint — one that would challenge me for the next several weeks — was already forming in my lower left leg, and both my not-so-flexible hips were regularly freezing up to boot. As such, going over this seemingly minor hindrance was not an option, and I chose to wander off up into the woods and walk around the tree’s fallen crown instead.)
