Step THREE: Testing the Choices

So, it is clear that we do always essentially KNOW what our “Life-Purpose” is.  Even if only on an intuitive level, we are each being told which general course of action we are to take to satisfy God’s Will – namely, selflessly Caring for others.  And yet how are we to determine what this internal voice is specifically telling us to do in any given moment?

Fortunately, Jesus himself gave us the most accurate method for determining God’s Will in our lives:  looking to the consequences (i.e. the “fruits”) of our choices.  In essence, actions that bring us peace and enable Love to flourish (both for ourselves and, more importantly for others) are in harmony with God’s Will.  And those that do not, are not …

“Every Good Tree bears Good Fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.  A Good Tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear Good Fruit … for the tree is known by its fruit.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:17-18+12:33)

“The Good person out of the Good Treasure produces Good, and the evil person out of the evil treasure produces evil … Wisdom is vindicated by all her children.” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 6:45+7:35)

“If I am not doing the Works of my Father, then do not believe me.  But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the Works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 10:37)

“If a plan or undertaking is of human origin, it will fail; but if it is of God, no one can overthrow it” ~ Acts 5:38-39
