Step TWO: Listening to the Inner Advocate
First of all, it is quite clear, from reading the Bible over and over again — as well as from radically putting its Truths into practice for a number of years, that the Advocate of John 14 is real; an actual “Moral Compass” that resides within each and every human being. Whether we call it the “conscience”, the “Advocate”, the “Holy Spirit”, or the “Spirit of Truth” is irrelevant. This “larger voice” is within us all; constantly guiding us to repent for our past mistakes, constantly encouraging us to act compassionately to others in the present moment — and thereby constantly spurring us to attain the “Salvation “of perfect Contentment in both the Here and the Hereafter. And it is not only my personal experience that confirms this Truth. The Bible itself repeatedly emphasizes it as well …
“And I will ask my Father, and he will Give you another Advocate to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of Truth … You know It, because It abides with you and It will be within you … This Advocate, the Holy Spirit, … will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said … When It comes to you, … this Spirit of Truth, which comes from the Father, will testify on my behalf.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 14:16-17+26 & 15:26)
“When [those] who do not possess the Law do instinctively what the Law requires … they show that what the Law requires is written on their Hearts”~ Romans 2:14-15
“Become obedient from the Heart to the teaching to which you were entrusted.” ~ Romans 6:17
“For I delight in the Law of God in my inmost Self” ~ Romans 7:22
“These mysteries God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything – even the depths of God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 2:10
“Those who are Spiritual discern all things, and they themselves are subject to no one else’s scrutiny.” ~ 1 Corinthians 2:15
“Now concerning Love for others … you yourselves have been taught by God to Love one another” ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:9
“The anointing that you received from Him abides in you [see John 14:16-26 above], and you do not need anyone to teach you.” ~ 1 John 2:27
