Page 152 … only THROUGH Christ
“Only through Jesus and what he did on the cross can we be saved.”
You know, Lucy, I actually agree with this statement wholeheartedly – though my definitions of “what he did on the Cross” and “be saved” tend to align more with his meanings thereof than yours … You see, at least according to a vast amount of evidence found in the Scriptures, Jesus did not get nailed to the Cross in order to encourage us to bow down and worship him as the only Son of God – otherwise the vast majority of his teachings in the Gospels would have been either misleading statements or outright lies (see Mark 10:18, John 5:41, John 7:16, John 8:50-54, John 12:44-47, John 14:20, John 15:8 et al) …
Similarly, Jesus never told anyone that Salvation (i.e. entrance into what he called “the Kingdom of Heaven” – see Luke 17:20-21) was anything other than a Way of selflessly living for others – a Way of joyfully self-sacrificing for the betterment of friends & strangers & enemies alike (see Matthew 3:8, Luke 6:36-38, Matthew 7:21-23, Matthew 24:12-14, John 3:21, John 13:15-17, John 13:34-35, Matthew 5:40-48, Luke 14:13-14, John 15:17 etc etc etc)!
