Page 174 … Knowing your Advocate

You then bring us even further from the point at hand by asking, “But who is your advocate?”  … Well my dear Friend, for starters, Jesus Christ is my primary Advocate!

Yes, Mahatma Gandhi – and Martin Luther King Jr. – and Peace Pilgrim – and Krishnamurti – and Buddha – and Kahlil Gibran – and St. Francis of Assisi – and Rabindranath Tagore are all advocates of the same Life I have chosen to live, and yet Jesus is far and away my personal favorite.  I have been literally following the Way he proscribed in the Gospels for eleven years now, and its brilliance hasn’t failed me yet!

Lucy:  Jesus is in a league of his own.  He was unlike any of these other men you mention … It is so sad that you don’t know who he really is, Scaughdt!  You may be trying to live as he did, but you don’t know him!

Scaughdt:  I fully agree with the first part of your claim, Lucy (It’s probably best for us to simply ignore the errant arrogance of the latter half of this particular comment from you – don’t you think?  I mean, where do you get off telling anyone else that they don’t know the “real” God or the “true” Jesus?!?!) … Indeed, St. Francis & Peace Pilgrim remained true to The Way for longer stretches of time than any of the others mentioned here, and yet no one walked it as extremely or as purely as Jesus did in the Gospels … Now if we all (including you & yours) would just go forth and do the same – if we would all just have the courage to listen to what he said in the Gospels (about Love – about our enemies – about generosity & selfless service –  even about himself), things would be so incredible!  As it stands, unfortunately … not so much.

And yet humanity is getting there nonetheless, and I have faith that we will make it yet!
