Page 352 … justifying the sinner
You then you use Isaiah & Habakkuk to claim that, “Your attempt at justification for sinners won’t cut it with God … The Bible says that God is holy, and therefore that He cannot even look upon sin; much less allow it to live in His presence.”
Well, aside from the simple fact that I have provided far more verses showing God to have a far greater Love and a far greater Grace than this claim allows, if you are indeed correct – if it turns out to be true that God does not possess such Love or harbor such Grace, then all you have proven hereby is that God is as pompous as He is petty; and that He is as cruel as he is capricious – several things I personally refuse to believe. How fortunate for all Christians, then , that they are not required to believe as you do about the nature of God – how fortunate they are that there is an alternative godhead – the Father of Jesus Christ – waiting for them in the pages of the Bible itself!
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you lock people out of the Kingdom of Heaven. For you do not go in yourselves, and when others are attempting to enter, you stop them from doing so.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 23:13)
“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” ~ Jesus Christ (Mark 10:14-15)
“And yet while [the prodigal son] was still far off [and before he had even asked for forgiveness], his father saw him and was filled with compassion; and ran to him, and put his arms around him and kissed him.” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 15:20)
