Page 472 … on Homosexual Saints
“The truth is that some of the saints in the Corinthian church were former homosexuals. God’s Kingdom is populated by sinners.”
Again, my dear Friend, homosexuality might make you uncomfortable because of the limited way Love was taught to you in your childhood, or maybe it makes you uneasy because of the conservative dogma that was indoctrinated into your mind in your youth, and yet the fact remains that homosexuality itself – at least according to the Bible – IS NOT A SIN! … And as such, if you are sincerely interested in adhering to the teachings of the Scriptures, and if you are sincere in your desire to follow Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Savior, then I humbly suggest that you choose to “get over it” – and start treating homosexuals the way Jesus would have treated them (and how he apparently did treat them*); namely, with openly humble expressions of Love & courageously open expressions of Respect.
*NOTE: Due to Emperoro Augustus’ ban on heterosexual marriage for his centurions (a ban that lasted until 197 A.D.), it was probably not at all uncommon for homosexual partnerships to develop among Roman soldiers. Indeed, in Matthew 8:5-13, we see Jesus being openly & non-judgmentally kind to a Roman centurion while healing his pais, a Greek term commonly understood in Jesus’ day to mean not “servant” (which would have been the much more common Greek word doulos), but rather “younger, same-sex lover”.
