Page 498 … on correction & judgment
“Correction is not judgment, as the Bible says that we should correct, rebuke and be bold to those who are sinning.”
Actually, this is not entirely true, my dear, for it is not “the Bible” that tells us to rebuke the sinners in our lives, but rather Paul who frequently does so (see 1 Corinthians 5:3, where he “judges” fornicators; using the same Greek word found in Matthew 7:1, where Jesus forbids us to engage in such judging!) … As it turns out, the Bible – especially via the words of Jesus Christ – also tells us that we are to keep our mouths shut & our Hearts open when dealing with our fellow sinners. The two theologies, quite obviously, do not mix, and Christians must choose one or the other … Frankly, I would humbly recommend choosing to follow Jesus, but maybe that’s just me.
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … You judge by human standards; I judge no one … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven … All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted … You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean … Let [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-5, John 8:15, Matthew 18:3-4, Luke 18:14, Matthew 23:25-26 & John 8:7)
