Page 542 … Beware of False Prophets

Next, you cite John 5:46-47 to claim that, “Jesus tells his detractors that unless one holds to the writings of Moses, one cannot fully know or understand either truth or Jesus himself … Of course, in the first five books of the Bible we read of the days of Noah (Genesis) and homosexuality as perversion (Leviticus).  So much for throwing out the Old Testament to legitimize homosexuality.”

Heavens to Betsy, Lucy!  This kind of grand misrepresentation of the Scriptures simply will not do – especially not for a woman who openly claims to believe in “the whole Bible”!

Please consider the following biblical Truths as my response thereto …

*First & foremost, it is absolutely critical for you to one day understand that Jesus came to amend the Old Testament laws – to “hone” & “perfect” & “full-fill” them (the Greek word plerosai – Strong’s #4137), not to abjectly uphold their stark & unjust applications or blindly follow their more conservative interpretations … [massive proof thereof on pages 534-540 herein]

*Secondly, John 5:46-47 does not contradict my proof of Jesus as a Great Reformer of the law.  “If you do not believe what [Moses] wrote, how will you believe what I am saying?” could just as easily mean “If you are not familiar with the works of Moses, how will you be able to see how I am adjusting them & bringing them into harmony with the perfect Love of the Father?”

*Thirdly & finally, as far as Leviticus goes, nowhere therein is homosexuality itself classified as a “perversion”.  Yes, it does label homosexual sex as an “abomination”, and yet the book of Proverbs lists dozens of other “abominations” that are far more prevalent & far more insidious than gay sex (ahem, including arrogance – see Proverbs 16:5), and Leviticus itself lists well over 70 additional transgressions in its pages, including many that warrant the death penalty as well (among them adultery, a sin that every married man or woman commits every time he or she even fantasizes about having sexual relations with anyone other than his wife or her husband – see Matthew 5:27-28) … As such, to use Leviticus (or any other book of the Bible) to call out and specifically condemn the sins of homosexuals is patently bigoted and blatantly hypocritical; two sins that were staunchly frowned upon by Jesus!

In essence then, my dear Friend, once again I can only humbly call for you to cease abiding in the twisted teachings of the false prophets you continue to quote in this thread, and to return to abiding in The Way of Jesus Christ instead!

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?  In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Thus you will know them by their fruits.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:15-20)
