Page 706 … Battling the Darkness
“Our battle is not with the flesh but rather with the powers of darkness and their principalities.”
I would agree that this is a Noble Goal, of course, and yet I’m not so sure you are going about said mission in an effective manner. You see, the Darkness of which you speak is almost exclusively composed of fear, and gets almost all its power therefrom – and you & yours happen to be “doing battle” with that Darkness using “weapons” forged from the same fear that gives life to those shadows! Arrogance & piousness are facets of fear, criticism & condemnation are born in fear, bigotry & intolerance are created from fear, and hypocrisy is an offshoot of fear as well. As such, while I do have faith that you have sincerely intended to do battle with Darkness by publicly condemning the sins of homosexuals (and incorrectly condemning homosexuality itself), you are actually helping “Satan” do his dirty work thereby!
“You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person brings good things out of a good treasure, and the evil person brings evil things out of an evil treasure. I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” ~ Matthew 12:34-37
“Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, that is – their hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing resides in secret that will not one day become known.” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 12:1-2)
“Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you do not accept my word.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 8:43)
“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.” ~ Matthew 4:16
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit … Thus you will know them by their fruits … Beware that no one leads you astray” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:15-20 + Matthew 24:4)
