Page 771 … keeping HIS commandments

You then go on to quote from John 14:15-24 (a passage which reads, “If ye love me, keep my commandments. If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings.”) and end by stating, “I would say that if you truly love Christ, you would want to do what pleases him.”

Ummm, now I’m a bit confused.  For if this is truly the case (and I would humbly agree that it is) and we are indeed to keep Jesus’ sayings and “do what pleases him”, then I simply have to step back and wonder:  Why aren’t YOU doing so, Lucy?  Why aren’t YOU keeping his sayings, and why are YOU refusing to love him by actively disobeying his commandments?

“A new commandment I give to you: that you Love one another. Just as I have Loved, so you also are to Love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples:  when you show Love towards one another.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 13:34-35)

Do not judge others, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom … Let [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2 + Matthew 23:25-26 + Matthew18:3-4 + John8:7)

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. And yet I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in Heaven.  For He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? … Be perfect [in Love], therefore, just as [the Love of] your heavenly Father is perfect.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:43-48)

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is just like it: ‘Love your neighbor* as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 22:37-40)

*And remember, my Friend – Jesus defined “neighbor” only once in the entire Bible, and he did so in the Parable of the Good Samaritan (see Luke 10:29-37) by equating our “neighbor” with our most hated “social enemy” (in your case, homosexuals)!
