Page 985 … Truth #1: Gays do NOT choose to be gay

“But gays choose to be gay” is one of the more common arguments conservative Christians use to justify their condemnation of homosexuals.  They openly claim that homosexual relationships are both innately sinful and purely voluntary – and thus, that homosexuals are thereby worthy of being punished for engaging in the same.

Well, first & foremost, it is important to realize that there is an ever-growing body of science showing that homosexuality is indeed a “God-created” (or at the very least a “God-allowed”) state of being – a same-sex sexual inclination that 5%-10% of the human population actually possesses & exhibits from early, pre-sexual childhood (if not from birth – please refer to the dozen+ studies I reference on pages 78-80 herein that more-than-faintly prove this point) … In this sense, at least as far as science is concerned, “GOD MADE the GAY”, and thus homosexuality is not a chosen “lifestyle” at all, but is rather an innate & fully natural character trait.  This means, of course, that it is not something “sinful” that God can fairly punish, for – if God does indeed exist, homosexuality is obviously an intrinsic part of His plan and a direct reflection of His will.  And this actually makes perfect sense, especially considering that fact that homosexual partnerships have been documented in over 1500 other species throughout His natural kingdom as well!

Secondly, conservative Christians claiming that homosexuals consciously choose to be sexually attracted to their same-sex partners continues to beg the obvious question:  How is it that gays (who are supposedly born straight) can suddenly choose to become sexually aroused by members of the same sex?  Lucy herself quite openly admitted (and quite vehemently professed) that she herself does not have this capability – and I know for a fact that I don’t have it either.  So why do homosexuals possess this ability to choose the gender they find sexually arousing when the rest of us straight folks don’t?  Why would God only give a few of us the ability to choose to be gay?  Why would God make roughly 10% of the human population essentially bisexual from birth – and then mandate that they be stoned to death (see Leviticus 18:22 & Leviticus 20:13) and eternally punished in Hell thereafter simply for being true to how He made them in the first place?
