another bit of Clarity … (05/24/12)

Greetings again, dear Friends!

Once again, it has been brought to my attention that my words have proven to be somewhat unclear (downright misleading, even). So if you will allow me, I would like t clarify one small yet very significant p

oint.

In my last post, it is important for you all to understand that I in no way meant to imply that your Good Deeds are worthless if you do them while still immersed in your addictions. I realize tat this is the way it sounded, and I apologize for that mistake.

What I meant to relay was the simple Truth that every action we engage is made more or less effective by two factors — how difficult (or easy) it is to perform, and how selfless (or selfish its intentions are.

I did NOT mean to imply that your yoga is worthless if you do it after chugging coffee, or that your work with children is worthless if you continue to smoke cigarettes, or that your Kindness to the homeless is worthless is you are still eating meat … Of course this is not true at all!

What IS true, on the other hand is the fact that your actions’ Power are drastically reduced if you perform them for yourself, and that they are drastically reduced again if you perform them while under the influence of self-focused addictions of any kind.

LOVE is what brings Power to our actions, and fear is what takes that Power away. Addictions are fear-based choices, so they naturally dampen the potential Power of your LOVE.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

Though your ego would have you believe that I am trying to get you to live a certain way, or have you believe that I think you have to “be perfect” before your LOVE does any real good — THIS NOT THE CASE.

I am well aware that there are many roads to the mountaintop, and if you wish to walk a different route thereto, far be it from me to try and stop you.

And yet, if you do set forth on another route and do not come to Peace in times of chaos, Joy in times of sadness, and Love in times of fear, remember that you can always return to The Selfless Path.

It’s not going anywhere, and will be right here waiting for you should you ever wish to walk its Way …

P.S. For those who are interested, here is how the text in my last post should have read (and how it does indeed read in my Blog):

“After all, how much good do we really do when trying to attain “Inner Peace” by doing yoga (or Tai Chi, or meditating) after jacking ourselves up on coffee a few hours beforehand? How much good do we really do when we try to better the lives of the children in our communities while continuing to smoke cigarettes – and thereby slowly killing those children? How much good do we really do when we try to extend Compassion to the homeless on our streets while we are simultaneously supporting the slaughter of innocent life-forms to fill our bellies?

In essence, what good really comes of striving to become a person who truly Cares for others when we are doing so while engaging activities primarily designed create a sense of “pleasure” or “calm” or “happiness” for ourselves?

Struggling to attain “Enlightenment” while continuing to engage in selfish, self-destructive behaviors simply doesn’t work that well … For real Harmony to be experienced, the mind and the Heart and the body must all act in harmony … They must all Act as ONE.”
