on apologizing … (04/06/10)
“I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you. “
This mantra is really zooming around (under the guise of a traditional Hawaiian teaching called “Ho’oponopono”, though this is not an accurate representation of that ancient wisdom).
Regardless of where it comes from, I think that “Good Stuff” is good stuff, and allWays somehow does good stuff … Of course, to make this particular Good Stuff really powerful Good Stuff, it might be wise to completely eliminate the conditional and dysfunctional “please forgive me” from the equation.
Any time we attach to a particular outcome, we neutralize our ability to Love purely in the moments we are waiting for the same. It’s a very sophisticated, codependent ego-trap that can be avoided by simply remembering to Care for others — while not giving a damn (literally) about what comes back as a result.
This “Caring without caring” is a true Life-opener and has always brought the Good fruit of Peace into my immediate surroundings …
As such, consider shifting the mantra to the infinitely more powerful “Thank you … I apologize … I Love You” — and then act accordingly!
