How can I meet God? … (01/02/10)
“We do not have to prepare to meet God, for we meet God many times every day — in the babbling of brooks, in the laughter of children, in the songs of birds, in the fellowship of family & friends, in the calm stillness of our own Souls, in the Kindness shown to us by strangers, and in the Kindness we give to them in return.” ~ inspired by Earnest Holmes
Anyone who has even an ounce of true Humility must acknowledge that there might very well be a Supreme Being “up there” watching over us … Any sincerely humble person simply has to accept the possibility that this is indeed the case. And, the most important question in relation to our Enlightenment is not how we are to worship that God (if He/She/It does indeed exist), but rather becomes the following: In the brief glimpse of time you have been given on this Earth, are you going to awaken to your full potential as a Human Being? In the brief glimpse of time you have been given, are you going to have the guts to “max out” your life, and this whether God exists or not?
And once you open up to this mentality and start to live a life with this as its main focus, then it becomes the irony-of-ironies that you begin to see God all around you — and this precisely because you are no longer looking for “Him”.
Indeed, the best place to recognize this Truth is in the mirror each morning. Gaze long into your own pupil and realize that the same essence that you might call “God” is the same essence that brought you back to consciousness after last night’s slumber. Realize that this “spiritual” essence resides within you right now … And realize in that one priceless instant that You Already Are a Facet of God — or at the very least a potential representative thereof.
And then, once this mindset is shining radiantly at the forefront of your consciousness, all that remains for you to “know God” is for you to go forth into your life and experience this Truth by acting accordingly; by giving everyone & everything you encounter a gentle blast of unconditional, radical, no-holds-barred Kindness & Caring; by becoming a manifestation of God’s perfect LOVE.
Do that, and you will not only “know God” – you will have taken God by the hand and will be walking through your life as a child thereof.
Amen … Let it be so.
