The Gathering of the Tribes … (11/15/09)
“Can you hear it?
Whispering on the edges of your ears…
Soft rumbling underneath your feet…
It’s the gathering of the tribes.
People coming from a distance, on a long, long journey to get here.
Stepping up, gathering together, forming strong bonds, hand to hand.
Eyes meeting, smiles of recognition. Sighs of sweet relief, as each of us discovers
–we are not alone.
People stepping up for the work that needs to be done.
Each of us carrying their own basket to the banquet.
Then linking together, weaving together
until the basket that carries us all
grows stronger, and stronger,
and stronger still.
Can you hear it?
Whispering on the edges of your ears…
Soft rumbling underneath your feet…
I can hear it, so subtle, so sweet, and so strong.
It whispers in my ears from the dreamtime.
I will sing of this on Friday.
I don’t know what tunes, I don’t know what words,
but I do know I will sing of this.
Please join us, bring the basket of your own truth to this banquet.
I will weave them all into the larger basket of Friday’s songs.
I will listen to you –and I will sing a song for all of us.
The gathering of the tribes.”
