How can I maximize my time? … (07/17/09)

Many folks spend lots of energy contemplating the nature of their “Life Mission” and quite a few others spend lots of time trying to “get the most out of life” — trying to “maximize their time”.

Fair enough … and yet maybe instead of pondering what we could be doing differently, maybe we should focus upon how “quickly” or “slowly” (i.e. how inattentively or how attentively) we are doing what we have already chosen to do.

Maybe it’s time to simply pause (right now!) to gratefully BE (right now!) … to truly attend to whatever it is we are already doing (right now!) … to do a conscious kind deed (right now!) for the one person who needs our kindness the most, who is most often the person for whom we least want to do so.

Consider the speed of what IS vs the speed of what COULD BE:

It is true and static that a nerve impulse travels 136 meters per second … that sound travels 340.29 meters per second … and that light travels 186,000 miles per second.

AND YET, despite these constant rates of velocity, the tempo of everything else in our lives is completely under our control.

Consider the following …

*The speed of our thinking can be either as “slow” as unconscious droning, or as poignant as a conscious pause …

*The speed of our intentions can be either as “hollow” as a habit, or as full as a selfless choice …

*The speed of our acceptance can be either as “frothy” as frustration, or as calm as forgiveness; either as “jagged” as criticism, or as fluid as acceptance.

*The speed of our amazement can be either as droning as the “boring”, or as brilliant as seeing the miraculous in everything “normal” — either as thick as the “familiar”, or as sparkling as seeing the Beauty in everything “ugly” …

*The speed of our gratitude can be either as “hot” as desire & envy for what we do not have, or as cool & Peace-full as being thankful for what we already do.

*And the speed of our Love can be either as methodical & meandering as indifference to those in need, or as immediate & potent as choosing to be Kind right Now to the person in need nearby.

You see, unlike matters of “scientific fact”, the tempo of every one of our actions and the vector of every one of our choices are both completely under our own control.

So why not take some time today (literally!) to enJOY this phenomenal gift?

Why not take some time to literally make some time?

And why not do so RIGHT NOW!
