Mike Dooley recently posted a list of “the top 10 things ‘dead people’ want you to know” … Seeing as how it’s making it’s rounds through the Internet, and seeing as how it seems to represent a few ideals that could very well lead you to suffer needlessly, I thought a brief commentary would be Kind:

1. They’re not ‘dead’.

Yes they are — and that is OK. Now, their “Soul” or “Spirit” or “Essence” might very well “live on” (we’re all going to be more than a bit surprised once we get that far), and yet the being you knew and loved (and probably miss) is indeed gone — they have melded back into The One — and that is OK. And, if the Universe truly is Interconnected, and if it truly is resonating with a base-frequency that is perfect Harmony (what we call “Love”), then your departed loved ones will NOT be communicating with you “from beyond” (they would never rob you of the majestic Bliss that comes from figuring life out on your own!) — and that is OK!

2. They’re sorry for any pain they caused.

Well, not really … They might have been extremely sorry in their last moment of consciousness (what to them was probably experienced as “eternity”, and what to you was witnessed only as their last fleeting breath), and yet it is safe to say that their independent personality has long since melded back into The All.  And even if that is not the case, they have almost certainly attained a deep-enough understanding of the Universe to no longer feel sorry for anything they did while living in their ex-body.  Every mistake reverberates back upon us — every one of our “false moves” turn into lessons for those who committed them, & opportunities for those who “suffered” from them.  As such, there is nothing left to apologize for — even if they are still “around”.

3. There’s no such thing as a devil or hell.

When read literally, this is misleading … Hell does indeed exist.  Of course, we are the ones who turn this life into that Hell — in every moment we set our own interests over those of the others in our lives.  As far as Satan goes, it is quite unclear as to whether or not He and his minions actually exist, or whether they merely appear to exist in the form of “evil” humans  — those people with egos have been warped by extreme lack of self-esteem (judgment from within) and extreme levels of condemnation (judgment from without).  Fortunately, it is irrelevant whether Satan exists or not, as the remedy remains the same.  Whether we are dealing with “evil” egos or demons of the darkest order, they are all fueled by fear — a fear that responds favorably to anger & sadness & angst — and a fear that runs wildly away from thoughts that are irrationally Forgiving & actions that are irrationally Kind.

4. They were ready to go when they went.

No ego is ever “ready to go” … Indeed, it is the very nature of every human ego to do everything it can to prevent its fleshly body from departing.  That having been said, after the last conscious moment has been experienced, everyone does indeed attain an experience of perfect Peace (a.k.a. Heaven, Nirvana, Bliss, Valhalla, etc.) … If they do so voluntarily, after having lived a life primarily dedicated to serving others, this transition is relatively smooth.  If they fight their departure, &/or have lived a life primarily dedicated to accumulating pleasure, wealth & comfort for themselves, then this transition becomes a sort of “second Hell” (Jesus called this very long moment moment “the wrath of God”).

5. You’re not ready.

Exactly (see commentary to #4 above), though those who have dedicated their lives to Caring for others do not suffer the fear of death.  They wish to live as long as possible, of course, but they wish to do so in order to help others longer, not to “enjoy more of life” for themselves.  It is a very wise thing to wake up every morning and start the day conscious of your mortality — ready to go at any moment — ready to go with a smile on your lips and a “Thank You” in your Heart.

6. They finally understand what they were missing.

Not at this point, as there is no more “them” to do that comprehending.  I like to think that we do gain an extended glimpse of Understanding during our last moment of consciousness, and yet it is impossible to “get” anything when you have become an integral part of that very All-ness. Then again, if the concept of Oneness (and only that concept) was what they were “missing”, then they finally “get it” indeed — because they ARE it!

7. Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of the moment you arrive.

Oh yes there is!  Every moment that you extend an act of radical, anonymous Kindness at a time when you least wish to do so — to the one person or thing you least wish to give that Love — you experience a “Glimpse of Grace” (that is sometimes more than a glimpse — that is sometimes a lingering “Heavenly Hum”).  These “Salvation Showers” (or “Bliss Baths”) provide a Wonder-full taste of how it feels to be reintegrated with the Universe — to no longer be separated from The All by your fleshly vessel — to once again experience how it feels to be ONE.

8. Don’t try to understand this now, but life is exceedingly fair.

Why not understand it now?  It’s not really that complicated … Every act we engage emits a unique frequency into our immediate environment; a vibrational ripple of energy that emanates out from us and eventually reaches the farthest reaches of the Cosmos.  As “like attracts like”, whatever we happen to choose to beam out, “magnetically” attracts nearby entities emanating similar frequencies to us.  At the same time, our original “blast” of energy “bounces off” of other entities and “washes back” upon us — allowing us to thereby experience the effects that our choices had on others.  This dual effect (the attraction of like-frequencies + the “bounce back” from our own originating action) has these consequences feeling far more severe than we remember our original deed being (whatever you do “comes back threefold”).   The “fairness of the Universe” comes into play in that what we feel and sense and experience truly is significantly tied to the choices that we have each already made in this lifetime.

*NOTE:  be careful when trying to manipulate this “Law of Spiritual Physics” (what some call “Here&Now Karma”) to your advantage, as the frequencies you emanate are related to not only the actions you choose to engage, but also the reasons why you choose to engage them.  Helping a senior citizen across the street merely to ease her suffering will indeed bring a measure of deep-seated Bliss on the short term — and some gentle waves of “reverberated providence” on the mid-to-long term, and yet selfishly helping her across the street to obtain those very benefits will have you emitting a very different frequency — one with consequences that will not be nearly as pleasant for you … 😉

9. Your pets are as crazy, brilliant and loving, here, as they were there.

There are no “pets” in Heaven … In the moment of Clarity before becoming one with everything (where you are as much the “pet” as you are “yourself” — as much the grass that pet pees on, for that matter), one of the things you will realize is that there are no such things as “pets”.  “Pets” are actually life-forms that are equally worthy, extremely intelligent, and often emphatically superior to us humans.  If anything, in this “eternal instant” before you meld back into everything, I wouldn’t be surprised if the pets who have “gone before us” were waiting for us there — to be our “masters” … 😉

10. Life really is all about Love, but not just loving those who love you…

Bingo!  In fact, life is indeed about Loving — especially those who don’t Love you, & especially those you don’t love.
