on celebrating living … (10/28/11)

Some have been pretty critical of the consumption of alcohol. Some have said that alcohol takes control of our lives … (“One drink is too many for me and a thousand not enough.” ~ Brendan Behan)

Some have noted that we cannot “become enlightened” if we also choose to imbibe; that it is merely an escape from our real Journey … (“Alcohol doesn’t console, it doesn’t fill up anyone’s psychological gaps, all it replaces is the lack of God.” ~ Marguerite Duras)

Some have even said that drinking guarantees the experience of pain & loss … (“Drunkenness is temporary suicide.” ~ Bertrand Russell)

Well I am a big believer that it is not WHAT you do, but WHY you do it that matters on the Path to Meaning-full living. And I believe that consciously celebrating life in ways that do not harm others is always a good thing.

And there was more than enough to celebrate this evening.
*I celebrate that the Mayan Calendar has reset and we are all still here (that’s right: the “big date” was yesterday — NOT 12.21.2012 like many are saying) …
*I celebrate that Occupy Yourself has come and gone and we are all that much closer to Waking Up to the true Power at our disposal — the Power of radical Kindness …
*I celebrate that I am alive, and conscious of that life … I have the ability to care even when afraid, forgive even when attacked and cherish even when betrayed.

So tonight I celebrate THAT — Life & the ability to Love … What more do we really need to be grateful and happy?

So lighten up, everyone … literally.
Despite its many trials and turmoils, it’s a good life after all.
