2004 … A happy homeless Hombre

As time went by, word got out into the Kailua-Kona community that a “happy homeless guy” was essentially living in Borders bookstore, and hundreds of people – tourists and locals; one-timers & regulars – began stopping by to visit with me from time to time. I pretty quickly found “my spot” at this particular table out on the bookstore balcony – a table that came to be known by visitors and employees alike as “Scaughdt’s office”, and the table where the various facets of my “Experiment with Truth” were strategized, planned, discussed, chronicled and digested …

“We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we might thereafter go away … I believe that one can never leave home. I believe that one carries the shadows, the dreams, the fears and the dragons of home under one’s skin, at the extreme corners of one’s eyes … Indeed, if Light is in your Heart, you will always find your way Home” ~ via Pascal Mercier, Maya Angelou & Rumi
