2003 … Sanctifying a humble Sanctuary

At the end of that particular summer, an attendant job opened up at the Shell gas station directly across the street from my Wright Park “cathedral”; a job that allowed me to help pay for Rebecca Jean’s groceries, meet and befriend more than a few of the area’s residents (especially the homeless folks who came in for the free coffee I regularly provided them), to earn enough money to flow onward to my next destination, and to further sink into the deep-seated Humility that would allow me to make the most of the same. One particular shift, after sharing portions of my story with a late-night Native American gas station visitor, I was given an original copy of Ram Dass’ book “Be Here Now” and was deeply moved thereby …
