2008 – Hawaii, Milwaukee, Georgia, Idaho, Spain, Utah … (04/07/08)
This was an event-full year of service & travel … I finished up my Hawaiian stint of caring for Bay & Prince (the two dogs for whom I was the caregiver) through May, during which time I took a three-week hiatus in March to travel to the Midwest where I gave a day-long seminar in Milwaukee, shared a short presentation in Chicago, and was interviewed twice for “inner Quest” — a cable TV program out of Highland Park* (also in Illinois — search “Scaughdt” on youtube to watch these interviews).
That summer, I returned to Wildwood (Georgia) to help out on my family’s farm and share a few more presentations in the Chattanooga (TN) area. In July, I was asked to travel back to Boise (Idaho), where I cared for some friends’ cats and worked on the website before volunteering to “throw luggage” for Ride Idaho 2008 (a week-long, 450+ mile, 250+ participant bike tour through the southeastern part of the state).
Then, after working for awhile as a wood-splitter in Boise, I returned to Georgia that September, and headed to Spain later that month to walk the Camino de Santiago** — a 555 mile pilgrimage from the French Pyrenees (St. Jeane Pied du Port) to the northwest Spanish coast (Finisterre).
After returning from Spain to Alexzanna Farms (in Wildwood), I then traveled to Park City (Utah), where I remained through the new year — working with children in a daycare facility and writing more articles for the website …
