Day 146g: Depositing wisdom at a depot of Unlearning … (September 22, 2019)

I had found a book on the sidewalk while crossing the previously mentioned Loudon Bridge into town – a book titled “A Different Kind of Classroom” by Robert Marzano; a book that I then fittingly left on a bench in front of Loudon High School; a school that was ignorantly paying public tribute to all its students who ignorantly supported war as a means to peace – a school that was obviously in dire need of a different kind of classroom …

A wise man once noted that God created war so that Americans could learn geography … Considered on a grander scale, it is appropriately forbidden for a single man to kill, meaning that all murderers are punished in a supposedly civilized society – unless, of course, they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets … I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will without question be fought with sticks and stones.” ~ inspired by Mark Twain, Voltaire & Albert Einstein

Most of us try to find support by leaning on all sorts of things — money, religion, sensory stimulation, even patriotism — and if these things are taken away from us, we fall over. As such, to the extent that we are at all dependent on such external supports, we become weaker and more liable to upset and misfortune … Our need for safety & acceptance make us essentially invisible in this world. Don’t let anything stand in the way of the far more glorious light that shines through your fleshly form. Dare to go against the norm and stand against The Man – risk being seen in all of your grander glory.” ~ inspired by Eknath Easwaran & Jim Carrey
