Day 145l: To become the Born to Be … (September 21, 2019)
“Constantly stopping to explain oneself or one’s endeavors often expands into a frustrating burden for the rare individual who has chosen to move against the currents of the norm, so ceasing to do so is like finally dropping all the weights and floating towards his destination. And in that moment those who insincerely misunderstand, those who intentionally distort the motives of a pure-intentioned individual, no longer have the ability to block the pilgrim’s path. Instead, they are the ones left to stand on the sidelines shouting frustratedly into the wind left behind by his trail … Discovering our vocation does not mean scrambling toward some prize just beyond our reach, but rather in accepting and enlivening and thereby embodying the treasure of True Self we all already possess. Vocation does not come from a voice residing ‘out there’ or ‘up there’ or even ‘in there.’ No, vocation is never calling us to be something we are not. It comes from a ‘voice’ that is in everything around us – all of it beckoning gently for us to embrace the opportunities to love and care and give and serve we have been given; for us to finally merge with those same surroundings and become the person we were ever born to Be.” ~ inspired by Criss Jami & Thomas Merton
