Day 144d: To walk ever Onward … (September 20, 2019)
I walked on & on & on that morning, eventually through the town of Trentville to the Eastmore Church of God; a church that boldly proclaimed “Hope is the armor of the Soul” – a church that obviously did not yet realize that this statement was not a positive proclamation at all; that hope is ever self-focused, and as such has little to do with Love; that hope is therefore not an armor that protects, but is rather an armor that blinds and mutes and separates – and thereby keeps one in emotional isolation. And so it was that I didn’t pause at all in Trentville, but rather – without any sense of hope or expectation or longing – walked ever onward …
“Resolving our fear or freneticism or fatigue occurs by walking towards the source of the same rather than thinking about how we might avoid or resolve or triumph over them without that walking … And so it was that he knew he had to press onward, and was only too well aware that such a resolution might well bring very different outcome to the one desired. And yet he felt an unwonted assurance that somehow or other he would be able to go through with it and persist. For his choice of path was a necessary one, and what was necessary was always ultimately possible.” ~ inspired by C. S. Lewis & Craig Lounsbrough
