Day 142l: Tanking UP on a far better Fuel … (September 18, 2019)
And then I finally ambled (now once more along a blessedly wide-shouldered Highway 11) into the village of Morristown, and stopped into the local Pizza Plus for a glass of water to help me along my Way. And yet instead of a simple glass of hydration, Trish & Krissy – who were sincerely astounded by my Walk — graciously offered to make me a vegan pizza instead; one that helped to further fuel my subsequent Journey, yes, and yet also an act of selfless kindness that fully & immediately refueled my Soul as well …
“It’s really all a matter of paying attention, being awake in the present moment, and not expecting a huge payoff – that and having the guts to care. Indeed, all the real magic in this world seems to work in whispers of greater awareness and acts of small kindnesses … So be Good to people whether they deserve the same or not. If your kindness reaches the readily deserving, good for you. And if your kindness reaches the seemingly undeserving, good for them – the ones who need your compassion the all the more … None of us can tell the precise moment when deeper Friendship is formed, and far more often than not we miss that telling instant. Just like filling a vessel drop by drop, there ever comes at last a drop which makes each cup run over. And it is crucial for us to realize that these cups are much much smaller than we think – just as it is important for us to ever remember that in every series of kindnesses there is ultimately one which makes all hearts overflow.” ~ inspired by Charles de Lint, James Fadiman & James Boswell
