Day 142c: Adjusting our looking Outward … (September 18, 2019)

And then I came to another critical crossroads along my Way, and chose to leave the comfortable knowns of Highway 11 in favor of the far more meandering (and, as it turned out, far more human-desolate) Highway 344 …

In this world that is so often cloaked in callousness & even cruelty, it is important to repeatedly readjust our emotive outlook to keep from drowning in bitterness or choking on despair. We must periodically weed out pangs of disenchantment and scour disillusionment from our hearts in order to console and replenish the depleted resolve of our spirit. Finding ourselves crippled by physical injury, weakened by illness, or left stranded in a vulnerable emotional condition brought on by fear or grief or disappointment, we must ever re-examine our spiritual sauntering and ever-update our mental maps in order to continually regenerate a source of stirred concentrate that steels a rejuvenated march ever onward. For some the sources of this revitalizing energy will stem from gaining a new perspective on ancient challenges, by re-affirming older hopes and dreams, or by delving anew into a lofty purpose far greater than our mere selves. Alternatively – and far more potently – we rekindle said resolve by consciously choosing to refresh our scrupulous assault on the far more important issues of life – kindness showered upon strangers, forgiveness offered to enemies, generosity ladled over the downtrodden, and caring encouragement proffered the meek.” ~ inspired by Kilroy J.
