Day 141l: The benevolence of Boe … (September 17, 2019)

And then I came upon the Here’s Hope Community Church, where Pastor Boe was present and invited me in for some water, some encouraged witnessing to my Walk and its embodied Way of Christ, and then – for the very first time on the American portion of my Journey – an offer of seemingly sincere practical support from any head official of any America church encountered along The Way. That’s right, Boe was so moved by our conversation about The Walk that he openly and enthusiastically promised to find some way to provide me with shelter on one of my Walk’s few remaining nights. True, he ultimately never followed through with this kind offer, and yet to this day I choose to believe that he at least earnestly wanted to do so at the time, which is (sadly, if one really thinks about it) much more than any other pastor or preacher or rabbi or reverenced had done for my Mission of Peace in the 33+ days prior …

Who you truly are is not determined by what you wear or how much money is in your wallet or how you talk or in which god (if any) you happen to believe. No, who you truly are is determined solely by your intentions and the actions that flow directly from them. That’s it. Everything else is superfluous silliness – nothing but fully window-dressing around the substance of You. For if you follow style you will only seek vacuous beauties. And if you seek money you will only seek meaningless wealth. And if you seek what they call, ‘fun,’ your life will be aligned towards the vanity of fame or the hollowness of pleasure. And if you adhere to a particular religious creed, then you will close yourself off from the far greater wonders availed only to those who know that everything is literally interconnected – that everything is indeed ONE. Everyone follows something (with many errantly following someone). So whatever you choose to enliven or emulate, remember to choose wisely – which requires that you choose caringly. ~ inspired by Mary Kate
