Day 137f: Another Haven for HOPE … (September 13, 2019)
After my brief visit to the library I made my way onward through town to its far outskirts, where I encountered HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty’s Existence), a lovely company started & maintained under the haloed auspices of eliminating poverty in that community. Super-kind attendant Zona was on hand when I entered that day, and made sure that I was given the “much better” filtered water that was normally reserved for the company’s staff, instead of the tap water I had originally requested …
“To be in a Community means working together to create a better society – one that responds to everyone’s needs, not merely the wants or desires of the privileged or the more powerful. In truth, regardless of our age or net worth or background or past mistakes, we all need to be able to accept and transcend our differences. Whether we come from different regions or different creeds or even differing ideals, we all need to enable everyone in our immediate world to communicate openly and effectively, and to then receive the assistance each of them needs. An uncommon sense of respectful dignity is necessary if we are to work potently together towards common goals; a feeling of compassion and belonging to the same Community, and this is exactly what we must invest in and indeed fight for. For the moment we stop fighting for – no, the moment we stop ourselves providing for – the needs of all others in our Community, that’s the moment we lose the viability of the same.” ~ via George Stamatis
