Day 129m: Far more than mere Arrival … (September 05, 2019)

There is a vast difference between arriving at a place and truly entering it. Arrival is physical and happens all at once. The train pulls in, the plan touches down, you get out of the taxi with all your luggage. You can arrive at any place and never really enter it, and indeed far more often than not that is exactly what happens. You get to where you’re going, you look around, you take a few pictures, you make a few notes, you see a few sights, you send postcards home, and then you leave. When you travel like this, you think you know where you are, but, in fact, you have never actually left home at all. Entering, on the other hand, is a much different and far deeper endeavor. Entering takes longer. Entering takes effort. Entering takes courage. Entering means crossing over into a space slowly, wholeheartedly, intimately, in bits and pieces. Entering is like awakening gently over a period of weeks, and then one morning you open your eyes and you are finally there – fully here – really and truly here – a here that has become more than a mere destination; a here that has become your next Home.” ~ via Jamie Zeppa
