Day 129k: Another sustenance Soul-filled … (September 05, 2019)

I didn’t flow much further on that then hot and glary day when I came across a small roadside shopping plaza (just south of the town of Crozet and about one mile before the large highway intersection at Yancey Mills) that contained a lovely little eatery called Burrit Oh! Ever one to appreciate odd words &/or clever spellings, I pulled in as a matter of principle and asked if I could have a sip of water and brief rest there in its cooler confines. Well, it turned out that Matthew was taking his lunch break there at the time and boldly came up to me and wanted to buy me lunch and chat with me about the Walk. Store manager Mariela overheard our conversation and noted that my lunch was actually on her, so Matt and I hung out for quite awhile, enjoying our delicious food and each other’s heartfelt company. It was quite clear that he deeply desired to infuse his life with something more Meaning-full, and my own spirits were greatly buoyed by the very real possibility that he might well have left the restaurant that day and joined Team Compassion thereafter. Either way, the entire affair was a profoundly inspiring reaffirmation of what my Walk was all about, and the Love that was shared there that afternoon re-energized my walking for many a minute after I departed …

Reverence is an inclination we can nurture in our young children, respect is choice we can inspire in our progeny as they become a bit older, and responsibility a character trait we can instill in our pre-teens as they grow into their middle years and become adolescents. And yet more important than any of these is an ever-available manner of being that underlies & underscores them all – that being The Way of Loving Kindness … We all are so deeply interconnected and essentially have no higher option left but to honor and assist all in whatever small ways we can. So be kind and do good for any one & everyone who crosses your path, and be sure to let your children see you doing the same. Do so with any regularity, and that caring fundament will be reflected through them as well in due time.” ~ inspired by Zoe Weil & Amit Ray
