Day 127k: When the Sanctuary is found outside … (September 03, 2019)
I ended up remaining at Yoder’s Country Market for several hours of rest and thought I would be able to remain there after the Sun had set and get some great sleep on their outdoor lounge chairs, and yet sound sleep was never forthcoming thereafter so I rose after only an hour or so of attempted slumber and continued onward down Highway 231’s now deserted roadway. Fortunately I didn’t have to walk far before my next resting place presented itself – namely, the long wrought-iron table located outside on the front patio of the Perfecting the Saints Deliverance Church (a small roadside domicile that also served as a seamstress shop during the week). It was a hard bed for the night, but it was elevated and it was sturdy, and that was more than enough for my tired body & fatigued mind to be exceptionally grateful for the same …
“If men built it, it’s not a true refuge, for only the Divine – the Divine within more than the One without or ‘up above’ – possesses the kind of material and necessary craftsmanship to bring us any semblance of real Peace … For years, home has been idealized as a refuge from the world, somewhere predictable and unchanging and safe from every storm. And yet Home – real Home; the Home yearned for by Soul more than mere mind or body – isn’t where we go to escape the world at all. Home is wherever we happen to be whenever we choose to fully inhabit the world; whenever & wherever we choose to love recklessly and give generously and sacrifice willingly and serve joyfully. For real Peace only comes from real Meaning, and real Meaning comes only from real connection with others and a willingness to pay attention to the particulars of our lives and respond to the same with integrity and with courage and with kindness.” ~ inspired by Craig Lounsbrough & Louisa T.
