Day 127c: Passing on Predictability … (September 03, 2019)

Your life becomes worthwhile when it is engaged boldly – when it essentially becomes an adventure. And adventures by their very nature are not predictable and only moderately exciting, with a lack of any real risk or danger and will ultimately predetermined outcomes. No, an adventure is life in a cascading state of things going wrong: situations you don’t expect, friends who betray you, strangers who might be dismissive or rude, weather patterns that cover you will glaring heat or soaking cold, equipment that fails when you most need it to work, enemies who are stronger and even smarter than you, and the possibility – no, the very real probability, at least at times – that you will fall to the wayside or be injured or even die. And it is during these real adventures – the ones where your knowledge and your skills and your strength of kindness & character are necessary to complete your assigned mission – that the Divine has prepared you to encounter and called you to engage … Indeed, when you choose to welcome every challenge and difficulty as an opportunity to empower your current or subsequent acts of selfless kindness, no hardship or pain can or will generate any suffering, and your life finally become what it has been summoned forth to be.” ~ inspired by Elizabeth Moon & Todd Perelmuter
