Day 115i: A huge helping of Peruvian Peace … (August 22, 2019)

And then I ambled into the township of Claymont and headed into Pat’s pizza for a cup of water and a moment or two of rest. After drinking the former and fulfilling the latter, I rose and headed back out onto The Road, only to be stopped by a pizza driver who was heading out to make a delivery. It turns out this was Alex (“I’m from Peru”), the ostensible owner of the establishment, and he asked me what I was doing and where I was heading and why. After briefly explaining my Walk, he excitedly told me to head back into the restaurant and order whatever I wanted from the menu, that I could sit there as long as I wanted and that it was all on him & his. Thank you, Alex!

Our neighbor is not he whom I find in my path and merely recognize. My neighbor is he in whose path I place myself and thereafter lovingly serve; he whom I gently approach and to whom I am boldly kind … Some say if you want success you need to surround yourself with successful people, and yet the truth of the matter is very different. The truth of the matter is that true and lasting success comes only to those who choose to be people of selfless kindness and courageous integrity.” ~ inspired by Gustavo Gutierrez & Charles Glassman
