“Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from Above; coming down from the Father of Lights – with whom there is no variation, nor shadow due to change.” ~ James (James 1:17)

Alot of folks give James a bad rap due to the whole “faith vs works” debate he seemed to have with Paul (though Paul himself regularly sided with works as well — see Galatians 6:5).  Never mind that Jesus made it clear that James was to run the show once Jesus left (Thomas 1:12), and never mind that James actually heard Jesus preach and actually walked with him (while Paul never did so).  This verse shows the Truth that the Divine is not only all-loving, but a constant source of gentle Grace* as well.  You may not think you are being given to during your moments of pain, and yet if you have the humility to remove your self-absorptions in such times, you will see that this is always so.

(*otherwise known as LOVE, the verb — both the Love given by us, and the Love received from others)
