Personal Communique (February 4th) …

February 04Personal Communiqué: Write three (3) emails this morning – one to a family member or friend, one to an associate, and one to a stranger or an enemy … The content of the mails should be almost identical, wishing their recipients well. Include messages of Kindness & Gratitude. Include a joke &/or a funny cartoon of some sort … When finished, print your emails out and “spruce them up” (with markers, colored pencils, stickers, etc.) … Finally, sometime today, hand-deliver them in silence — with a silent smile.

In our ever-more-electronic world, the art of letter-writing is fading fast. Yes, emails are becoming ever-more-creative, and they can also be used to convey Caring & Kindness. And yet there is something truly powerful about a hand-written letter. Indeed, that is why this task asks us to print out an email and then decorate it by hand, for it is the latter that imbues the giving with Love …

… and it is the hand-delivery that fills the giving with Power.

As far as the content of your note is concerned, it only requires two components:

Gratitude …

… and Love.

Everything else is completely determined by you. Of course, your gratitude & your Love are completely determined by you as well!

My own email was short & sweet – and went something like this:

“Dear _____,

Thank you for being alive!  Whether you have been a friend or an enemy, a family member or a stranger, I care for you deeply in this moment. Even if you are not a current “loved one”, you are Loved!

The only thing that is keeping us from remembering this Truth is fear. So fear not today, my Friend … Just laugh, and know Love instead.

See You when I see you …

and until then, Be Now!

Scaughdt”
