Day 075i: Grace-full greetings in the Garden … (June 28, 2019)

About an hour and half afterwards I came across “Les Jardins des Reves” (The Garden of Dreams)* – lovely pathside rest-stop – and decided to stop in for some water and maybe to sit a bit in the shade. No other pilgrims were present at the time, and I was blessed to know more than a few moments of Peace-full Fellowship there; chatting with Gonzo (who I believe was the proprietor’s son visiting from Portugal) about my Walk and its message of reckless Kindness, receiving “the season’s very first apple” from the proprietor himself (Dominique), and watching Gonzo’s toddler son attempt to navigate the hostels’ front steps (mostly successfully, though also with one small tumble as well) … Dominique also graciously made me a crepe and didn’t at all take it personally when I gently explained that I was a vegan and would not ever again consume my animal Friends. Both of them were somewhat moved by my Mission (and I, by their uber-warm hospitality) and Dominique asked if it would be OK for them all to walk with me aways as I continued upon my Journey of Peace. I fluidly accepted the same, and we set out together with much Joy & camaraderie; walking several hundred meters together before I offered them heartfelt thanks for their amazing Kindness and they waved and wished me well as they then returned to “Les Jardin” …

We cannot ever know the precise moment when a true Friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is always at last a final drop which makes it all run over. So it is in a series of kindnesses there is at last a single one which makes the heart run over and forges an unbreakable bond. The trick, of course, is to make said vessel smaller & smaller – and thereby easier & easier to fill – with each new meeting.” ~ inspired by Ray Bradbury
