Day 074j: Remaking the Meaning … (June 27, 2019)
And then I was blessed by the next donativo rest-stop; this one a relatively elaborate affair, with the standard offerings of free fruit and soothing beverages, to be sure, and yet also with the gifts of soothing shade, a comfy sofa, and uplifting inspirational quotes posted all around … As I was writing my usual guestbook message of thanks for their selfless support of my Walk, the surprisingly young proprietors (Ben, Piero, Marie, & Johanna) of the waystation came up from their nearby residence* and chatted with me for awhile about my Mission (and how they themselves were already embodying it) …

“Meaning in life comes from connection, and human connection must be based on kindness. And it is kindness that is continually neutered – and thus Meaning deeply lost – when people refuse to set aside their narrow self-interests in consideration of the needs and interests of others – not only family and friends and coworkers and neighbors, but also the greater community at large – including strangers & even enemies alike.” ~ inspired by Diane Kalen-Sukra
