Day 074c: All the same Source … (June 27, 2019)
The church at Argagnon was closed when I passed by, and yet there was something about it that borough me some solace even though I was not allowed entrance …

“The person with a solely secular mentality tends to feel himself to be the center of the Universe. And as such, he is likely to suffer from a sense of meaninglessness and insignificance because he knows he’s but one human among roughly eight billion others – all whom equally feeling themselves to be the center of things; scratching out a banal existence on the surface of a medium-sized planet circling a small star among countless stars in a galaxy drifting amongst countless galaxies. The person with the primarily religious mentality counters this dilemma by tending to feel himself – along with all those who happen to believe in like manner – to be uniquely redeemed. And as such, he is likely to suffer from a sense of judgmental arrogance, because he knows he is one of a handful of sentient beings that will be allowed entry into a postmortem paradise, with the rest damned to an eternity of purifying fire or – at best – purgatory. And yet the person who opts for the sacred mentality suffers from neither of these humongous pitfalls. She does not feel herself to be the center of the universe, nor does she feel herself to be especially worthy. Instead, she considers the Center to be elsewhere and she knows that every single sentient being is just as worthy of redemption as herself. Most important of all, she chooses to go forth each day and act accordingly. She refuses to feel lost or insignificant precisely because she draws her significance from her relationship, her innate interconnection, with that Center via her interactions with all those she meets along the way – with all those who share that same Source.” ~ inspired by M.
