Day 069q: What it means to be Wealthy … (June 22, 2019)

After I left the chapel and headed back out onto The Road, I soon passed a fully renovated (and obviously now privately-owned) church that had me pausing to wonder about the deeper nature of wealth & poverty …

I’ve been making a list of the things they don’t teach us at school. They don’t teach us how to truly Love somebody. They don’t teach us how to be humble when famous or bold when humbled. They don’t teach us how to be kind while rich or generous while poor. They don’t teach us how to calmly walk away from violence while simultaneously moving gently towards the one inspiring the same. They don’t teach us how to stop analyzing what might be happening inside another’s mind and solely judge the worth of their deeds instead. They don’t teach us what to say to someone who’s dying, and they don’t teach us how to care for the ones still fully alive. Come to think of it, schools don’t really teach us anything worth knowing at all.” ~ inspired by Neil Gaiman
