Day 069b: Overlooking the Soul of it All … (June 22, 2019)

It was hard to notice upon arriving in town last night (partly due to the gathering gloom, partly due to the sloping landscape, and mostly due to my fixation on “making it” to that night’s place of rest) and yet it turned out that Lectoure was a partially walled city that rested upon a relatively high promontory – a fact that made itself spectacularly clear as I reached the edge of town and was gifted with a spectacular view of the mist-shrouded valley below …

I let my head fall back, and I gazed into the Eternal Sky. It was early morning, and the heavens were draped in the softest blue. The mists were still resting upon the valley below, and the contrast between the two was soft yet stark – with the skies fully open to light and life, and the land below hiding what almost felt like death and chaos. I once heard a shaman say that the Ancestors had often identified the same discrepancy, and that we were to live our lives in favor of harmony and openness and peace; much like the clear blue sky.” ~ inspired by Shannon Hale
