Day 068p: Resting beneath the Righteous … (June 21, 2019)
Even the walking was much easier at this point, I still rejoiced upon entering the town of Castet-Arrouy and its beautiful church (dedicated to Saint Blandine); sitting there in solace within sacred sunbeams, their light streaming warmly through colorful depictions of the selfless sacrifice of Jesus, the humble healings (and inter-species adorations*) of Saint Anthony, and an unknown saint holding a quill and shouldering a cross …
*Saint Anthony of Padua was said to have shown an undying love for both the poor and the ill, and is said to have had his sermons intently attended by not only his fellow humans, but fish and mules alike.
“Many think that peace comes to those who somehow reconcile the heart’s call for ‘This way’ and the world’s summons towards ‘That way.’ And yet all the Masters of old – each in his or her own words & manner – reminded us that real Peace only comes while walking THE Way – God’s Way – The Way of Christ – the Way that wants only one result: a setting aside of self (both the selfish desires within and the superficial temptations without) in order to care for any & all in need.” ~ inspired by Craig Lounsbrough
